Several elderly persons, both men and women, who came to vote at Ezienwelu Polling Unit 001, Nimo Ward 2, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, were left stranded as the BVAS machines failed to capture them.
The affected voters, who expressed strong disappointment, said they had set out as early as 7 am to cast their ballots but were unable to do so as the BVAS machines could not recognise them.
A 76-year-old woman, Ifeyinwa Okafor, in an interview with our correspondent said: “Although the INEC officials arrived as early as 8 am, accreditation did not start until 30 minutes later. The exercise is going on smoothly but slowly.
“They asked us to sit down because the machines were not capturing our faces. We were told the reason could be that our faces have changed and that they need to capture us through thumb-printing. Punch
