Some communities in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have again been plunged into darkness following a power outage that has lasted more than five days.

The affected communities include Ibafo, Magboro, Oke Afa, Makogi, parts of Aseese, and the environs.

The development is coming just days after power was restored in the communities where residents were left without power supply for over a month.

A resident of the Makogi area, Samuel Adedeji, told PUNCH Metro on Wednesday that the latest power outage started on Friday.

“Power supply is usually rationed but on Friday, which was our turn in our area to have electricity, there was an outage. It is sad that up to this moment, power has not been restored,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has said it is working to restore power in the affected communities.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, IBEDC blamed the power outage on a “faulty breaker at Oke Aro TCN which affected the Ibafo 33KV feeder.”

“Our technical team is working to ensure that the fault is speedily rectified and power supply restored.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appeal for your understanding,” the notice signed by IBEDC, Ogun Region, read in part. Punch
