Bayelsa: Motorists lament Yenagoa’s poor road network

Motorists and commuters plying Harbour road leading up to SwaliUltra-Modern Market in Yenagoa have expressed concern over the deplorable condition of the road.

The condition of the road worsened due to the heavy rainfall in recent weeks.

The bad spots located at Oil Mill Road Junction, Shell Ramp, the junction leading to the slaughter and Trinity Road Junction now cause traffic jams on regular basis.

The situation is even more worrisome on market days which are usually Monday and Thursday every week.

Speaking on the condition of the road on Tuesday, a tricycle driver, Abdullahi Musa told South-South PUNCH that the government is aware of the state of the road but has refused to do anything about it.

A commuter, Lucky Teido expressed worry that if nothing is done to address the situation they road can become impassable as the rainy season continues.

“I wonder what will happen to the road until the rainy season ends. It will be difficult to pass the road. Even now, it is so difficult,” Teido stated.South-South PUNCH could not reach the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Surveyor Moses Teibowei for comment, as his mobile number was not reachable.
