Bayelsa: Suspected cultists kill student in apartment raid

A student of the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, identified simply as Christian, has been killed by suspected cultists.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a police source on Sunday that the incident occurred on Thursday night at Christian’s apartment, located around the university community.

The victim, said to be a student of the Faculty of Engineering, was reportedly attacked after the assailants stormed his residence in search of his roommate.

“We got a report that some suspected cultists stormed an apartment looking for a rival believed to be Christian’s roommate. On getting to the location, they did not find him and shot Christian,” the source said.

The student was said to have died on the spot, while the assailants fled the scene.

Another police source said the incident heightened tension in the community. Punch
