COVID-19: Six-year-old girl tests positive in Jigawa

A six-year-old girl, who is the daughter of the index case in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has tested positive for COVID-19.

This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Health, and the Chairman of the Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Abba Zakari, in Dutse, the State capital.

According to the commissioner, of the 18 samples collected from the contact tracing of the Kazaure index case, only the six-year-old girl’s sample tested positive.

He said the girl would soon join her father at the state’s Isolation centre, adding that 32 new cases have been confirmed in Jigawa State.

This brings the total number of infected persons in the state to 72, The PUNCH reports.
