Fintiri
The first son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Adamu Atiku, has resigned as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development from Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s cabinet in Adamawa State
In a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Abdulaziz Jauro, the former commissioner commended the governor for the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
“The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamawa State, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, has formally resigned from his position after serving two successful terms in office.
“In his resignation letter dated March 2, 2026, and signed by him, he expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa State, for the rare privilege and confidence bestowed upon him to serve in such a strategic capacity,” the statement read.
The former commissioner was absent at the Adamawa Government House on Thursday when Governor Fintiri defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Adamu is reportedly nursing a governorship ambition on a party platform he is yet to declare.
Sources close to his father told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that Atiku had endorsed Adamu for a senatorial contest.
Meanwhile, Abba Atiku, his half-brother, will be contesting for the House of Representatives on the platform of APC. Punch
