Defection: Declare Abaribe’s seat vacant, APGA tells Senate

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has asked the Nigerian Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, to declare the seat of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe vacant, over his defection from APGA to the African Democratic Congress.

APGA disclosed this in a communique issued at the end of the meeting of its National Working Committee held at the party’s South-East regional Secretariat, Awka, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Awka, on Friday, by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara.

Recall that Abaribe, representing Abia South in the Senate, alongside no fewer than nine other senators from different political parties, had in March reportedly announced their defection to the ADC.

Their letters of defection were reportedly read on the floor of the Senate during plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. Punch
