Drake delays Certified Lover Boy album release after knee injury

Drake has been forced to delay the release of his anticipated next album Certified Lover Boy, after spending months recovering from a knee injury.  The God’s Plan rapper was expected to release his sixth studio album in January and had teased the record since last year.  However, fans will have to wait a little longer for Drake’s new music as he’s pushing it back after injuring his knee and undergoing surgery.  In a statement shared on Instagram, the Grammy-winning rapper explained: ‘I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery.  ‘I’m blessed to be back on my feet, feeling great and focused on the album but CLB won’t be dropping in January.’  Without giving an exact release date, he added: ‘I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.’  Drake, 34, first announced that he was working on a new album in June and later shared the title. In October, he released a minute-long trailer for the album to mark his 34th birthday.

He’s already started the promo run by releasing the lead single, Laugh Now Cry Later, featuring Lil Durk and it’s expected to appear on the record.  Drake, real name Aubrey Graham, has shared few details about the album but did joke he thought people would hate it.  Drake announces January release date for new album Certified Lover Boy Play Video Loaded: 0% 0:00Progress: 0% PlayMute Current Time0:00 / Duration Time0:59 Fullscreen

During an Instagram Q&A with fans, he said: ‘They hated on “Views” just like they will CLB but it’s music to evolve to.’  The rapper revealed his injury in October with an Instagram photo of his leg in a brace and resting on a bed.
