Malami
Abubakar Malami, former attorney general of the federation (AGF), says he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami said he would honour the invitation as a law-abiding citizen.
He made the disclosure in a brief statement posted on his Facebook page and said the decision to honour the invitation reflects his belief in accountability and transparency in public service. “I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he said. “I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service — the principles that I both advocate and champion.”
Malami added that he would keep Nigerians informed as developments unfold, adding that he remains committed to openness in matters concerning public trust.
On September 1, Malami’s convoy came under attack by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi state.
On September 10, Malami petitioned the national security adviser (NSA), the inspector-general of police (IGP), the director-general of the DSS, and the comptroller-generals of immigration and civil defence corps over an alleged plot to destabilise Kebbi state through the importation of political thugs.
On September 22, Malami was by the DSS over the attack.
