EKEDC chief legal officer, Wola Joseph named among top 50 general counsels in Nigeria
Chief Legal Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Wola Joseph has been named among the top 50 general counsels in Nigeria. The Legal Year 2019 Magazine, a legal publication by LKS Seminars, in its 2019 edition, ranked her 11th out of the top 50 general counsels in Nigeria.
The recognition comes on the back of several achievements and milestones reached by the cerebral counsel.
Wola has vast experience in Nigerian and international corporate law and finance and a great deal of professional experience in the international power sector space. She has led teams to structure and negotiate several syndications and cross-border financing transactions and has been instrumental in the development of effective strategies for ensuring the success of transactions locally and internationally.
Reacting to this recognition, Wola Joseph said “I am humbled to be featured in the top 50 general counsels in Nigeria alongside other highly respected learned colleagues of mine. To be ranked 11th is a great deal and shows that hard work and dedication don’t go unnoticed”.
She praised EKEDC a leader in innovation, performance and strategy in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) for attracting and retaining serial performers in its workforce and maintaining high standards ethical practice in the delivery of its services. She said she would not have achieved this feat without the support of the organization and her colleagues.
Wola Joseph holds an LLB from the Nigeria premier Institution, University of Ibadan, a BL from the Nigerian Law School and an LLM from the prestigious Harvard Law School, Massachusetts, U.S.A. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators, a member of the American Bar Association, member of the Institute of Directors, Harvard African Law Association and Harvard Women’s Law Association.
