The Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.
According to Channels Television on Tuesday, Justice Darius Khobo moved the date after proceedings in the ongoing case in which the former governor is facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial crime and abuse of office filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
Speaking after the court session, counsel to the former governor, Ukpon Akpan, faulted the repeated adjournment of the bail hearing, describing it as “politically motivated.”
The former governor was in court on Tuesday, arriving around 9 a.m. in a convoy accompanied by operatives of the ICPC and the Department of State Services, while security agencies restricted movement within the court premises.
Supporters of the former governor also gathered outside the courtroom as proceedings were held under tight security.
The matter was adjourned to the first week of June 2026 for ruling on the bail application. Punch
