EndSARS Memorial: Calm, normalcy back at Lekki Tollgate

Normalcy has returned to the Lekki toll gate area after the #ENDSARS memorial protest went rowdy.

Few hours after Lagos Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu arrived the protest venue, normalcy was restored.

The protesters had blocked the toll gate after arriving in a car procession to commemorate the first anniversary of last year’s #EndSARS nationwide protests.

But they were dispersed with tear gas with the protesters running in various directions.

The Police Commissioner told reporters that vehicular movements have been restored because the organisers told the police they would be protesting for two hours.

He stated that some “miscreants” who disguised as protesters were arrested with machetes and other dangerous weapons at the venue of the protest.

Journalists arrested at the protest ground were also released after proper identification. Nation
