EPL sets new record as transfer spending hits £1.17 billion in single window

Premier League transfer spending has reached £1.17 billion ($1.57 billion, 1.27 billion euros), breaking the single window record, financial services firm Deloitte announced on Thursday.

With a week to go until the window closes, Deloitte’s Sports Business Group say the 20 English top tier clubs have shattered the previous record of £1.165 billion, which was set by the Premier League last year. Punch
