Some fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment following Nigeria’ defeat to Guinea Bissau on matchday 3 of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

A Mama Balde’s 29th minute strike was enough to hand the visitors a 1-0 win over the Super Eagles, ending their perfect run in the qualifiers.

The Wild Dogs held on to condemn the Eagles to their first home defeat since 2021 and their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.

Immediately after the game fans swarm social media in anger as they latch out at the team, Jose Peseiro and the Nigeria Football Federation.

A Twitter user Momo Shaibu believes the Eagles deserve world class coaches.

“We should never bring a foreign coach again if they are not top 10 coaches in the realms of (Jurgen) klopp, (Jose) Mourinho, Luis Enrique etc. These average white coaches we have are not better Nigerian coaches,” he wrote.

Babaloye Henry added, “Nothing has changed with this team, same old deficiencies still appalling . No midfield and we have one of the best strikers in the world , can’t feed him .

“Sorry this looks the same again to me.”

Kevin Toyinbo, however, blames poor mentality in the team for the defeat.

He said, “No fluidity amongst the talents on that pitch. Poor mentality. Some players getting easily disgruntled about other players. That’s not the mentality we need here. Unto the next one.”

A disappointed Twitter user, Praize, laments wasting his resources on the Eagles game.
