Female fashion icons take the lead on Glo-sponsored African Voices

 Anna Getaneh,

The contributions of Africa’s female fashionistas to the global fashion industry will this weekend be on the front burner as African Voices, the magazine programme of the Cable News Network (CNN) sponsored by telecommunications giant, Globacom.

A vignette of the programme informed that the three female fashion icons: Ethiopia’s Anna Getaneh; Nafisa Hafiz of Sudan and Anita Beryl from Uganda are driving the visible styles on runways across the globe.

The three fashion authorities will engage viewers at 11.30 a.m. on Friday with repeat editions at 7 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Saturday and at 12.30 a.m., 4.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday. There will be further repeats of the edition at 5 a.m. on Monday and at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Ex-international model, humanitarian and social entrepreneur, Getaneh founded the African Mosaique, a clothing design, manufacturing and retail company where she doubles as Creative Director in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her exposé will dwell on how she explores fashion to empower and connect African designers.

On her own part, Nafisa Hafiz desires to lead Sudan’s fashion industry by drawing richly from traditional designs. She will welcome viewers into her fashion world and how she has been coasting home in achieving her lofty dreams.

Anita Beryl was last year invited to showcase her designs at the World Fashion Week 2017, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is the third personality on the programme and is described by CNN as ‘a thriving entrepreneur who is making her name known in Kampala through her fashion house”. She is also the Creative Director of award-winning Beryl Qouture, a notable player in the Ugandan fashion industry.
