Gov’s defection: Kano commissioner resigns, says he can’t serve a ‘derailed’ government

Yusuf Kofarmata, commissioner of science, technology and innovation in Kano state, has resigned from his position, citing concerns about the direction of the state government.
“I cannot continue to work under a government that has derailed from the ideology that brought it to power,” Kofarmata said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
The former commissioner, a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), said his action was taken in good faith.
His resignation comes days after Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, formally resigned from the NNPP.
Yusuf cited “deepening internal crises” and “prolonged leadership disputes” in the party as key reasons for his exit.
The governor resigned alongside 21 members of the state house of assembly, eight members of the house of representatives, and all 44 LGA chairmen in the state. Thecable
