Kaduna abduction: Bandits free five more Bethel Baptist school students, hold four

Five more of the abducted students of Bethel Baptist School, Kaduna, alongside their matron have regained freedom on Friday, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Their release is coming 92 days after over 120 of them were kidnapped on the school premises on July 5, 2021.

The bandits had invaded Maraban Rido in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on June 5, 2021, and abducted the students of the Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna.

The President, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr Israel Akanji, confirmed the release of a new batch of the pupils to Saturday PUNCH in a terse statement.

“Glory be to God! Five of our Bethel Baptist High School students and the matron, making six, have just been released to us this evening, October 8.

“We thank God and trust that the remaining four students will also be released. Thank you for your prayers and support.”

Recall that on Sunday, September 26, Sunday PUNCH had reported the release of 10 of the students.

The released of the 10 students was disclosed by the Vice President of CAN (19 northern states and Abuja) and its chairman in Kaduna State, Rev. Joseph John Hayab. Punch
