The New Nigeria People’s Party Transition Committee, headed by Dr Baffa Bichi, says it has uncovered a public building that was allegedly sold by outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to his son for N10m.

“We are aware that this place is sold to his (Ganduje’s) son for less than N10m and the boy has since sold the place for N300m,” Bichi alleged, while speaking to journalists after a visit to the property in question.

The building in contention is a Public Procurement Bureau Office located on the State Road near Laoyler Private Secondary School in Kano.

Bichi, who led other transition committee members to the place on Wednesday evening, said the team discovered that all the operating office tools had since been evacuated from the place and the building looked desolate.

Speaking after going round the empty office,  Bichi described as unacceptable Ganduje’s alleged last-minute move to mortgage the interest of the state.

“We are deeply worried that the manner the outgoing government of Ganduje is mortgaging the common franchise and the common properties of the good people of Kano leaves much to be desired.

“This is vandalism; they are vandalising and uprooting every structure available in the state. This is not good for a government that was given good eight years but has now resorted to these unpatriotic actions,” he said. Bichi warned that whoever bought the property would have themselves to blame.

“We are not only going to recover anywhere that has been sold as public places but we will surely prosecute anybody who bought them,” he vowed.

When contacted, the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba, said,  “I am not aware of the transaction; but I will find out and revert.”

Similarly,  the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Musa Lawal, said he was not aware of the transaction, hence, he could not comment on it. Punch
