Kano: Gov orders stoppage of salaries of 10,500 workers engaged by Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday, mandated the Accountant-General to halt the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by his predecessor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar.

Before taking over the helm of affairs, Yusuf accused Ganduje’s government of illegally employing over 10,000 workers when he was about to conclude his final term in office.

White briefing newsmen in Kano in Kano on Monday, the Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, said the governor ordered his office to expunge the workers from the state’s payroll.

According to him,  his office would investigate to ascertain the authenticity of their engagement and procedures, to remove those illegally recruited.

Also, Abdulsalam disclosed that all Local Government workers, who were converted to state workers by the former administration will continue receiving their salaries, but based on Local Government levels.

However, he directed them to continue working in their new state’s MDAs, until the investigation is concluded.
