The Labour Party factions aligned with Abia State Governor Alex Otti and former presidential candidate Peter Obi have dismissed reports of internal crisis, insisting there is no rift within the Senator Nenadi Usman–led interim national leadership.
In an interview with The PUNCH, the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Prince Tony Akeni, said concerns over alleged arbitrary removal and replacement of key members of the interim National Working Committee were unfounded.
He said, “We wish to use this opportunity to allay rumours in some circles claiming that there are cracks in the Senator Nenadi Usman council of the Labour Party due to alleged arbitrary removal and replacement of some key officers of the party’s interim National Working Committee.”
Akeni stressed that the Labour Party’s origin as an institution created by the Nigeria Labour Congress set it apart from conventional political platforms. Punch
