Mariah Carey goes to court to keep intimate videos under wraps

Mariah Carey is gearing up for her big performance at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night (01May19) by waging war with an ex-assistant over a series of intimate videos.

The Hero singer has returned to court to urge Lianna Shakhnazaryan to agree to a protective order in their ongoing legal battle, which prevents her from releasing the footage she allegedly secretly recorded, according to The Blast.

According to court documents obtained by the outlet, the singer is keen to limit the release of her financial, sensitive, private and confidential information, but she claims for former assistant is refusing to sign off on an agreement.

Carey insists her ex-employee is using the video to blackmail her into paying a substantial settlement to prevent the material from being released.

Shakhnazaryan has denied her former boss’ allegations she tried to extort the singer and wants a $3 million (£2.3 million) lawsuit against her thrown out of court.

Mariah sued Lianna in January (19), alleging she filmed her without her consent and then had threatened to release the embarrassing videos.

The former assistant responded by filing her own lawsuit against Mariah and her former manager Stella Bulochnikov, among others, making numerous allegations, including wrongful termination, retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination and harassment, sexual harassment, emotional distress, and battery.

In her lawsuit, the Touch My Body hitmaker claimed Lianna had threatened to release the damaging videos unless she was given $8 million (£6.1 million), and accused her of being a, “Peeping (Tom)asina and an extortionist”.

In her own complaint, Lianna claimed Stella slapped her butt and breasts, urinated on her, tackled her to the ground, sat on her and called her a “f**king Armenian w**re”. She also alleges Mariah witnessed or knew about the alleged incidents.

Mariah and Stella parted ways in late 2017 and her ex-manager then launched her own lawsuit claiming the singer owed her more than $100 million (£7.6 million) in commissions. They subsequently reached an undisclosed settlement. musicnews
