A suspect
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has arraigned a former staff member of the Court of Appeal, Munirat Abdulazeez, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Bwari over her alleged involvement in a job racketeering scam.
Abdulazeez, who served with the Court of Appeal between 2018 and 2023, was brought before Justice Godwin Iheabunke after an arrest warrant was issued for her non-appearance at a previous hearing.
According to a statement on Saturday by the ICPC’s spokesman, Demola Bakare, the defendant was involved in a fraudulent job scheme, promising fake employment opportunities at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
Bakare said between September 2022 and July 2023, she allegedly obtained a total of N9.2 million from eight unsuspecting job seekers under pretenses. Punch
