In a message shared to mark the New Year via his official X handle on Thursday, Obi described the period as an opportunity for “a genuine new beginning” and called for reflection and renewed commitment to democracy.

“May this be the year we take our democracy seriously, not just as a ritual of elections, but as a daily commitment to unity, justice, accountability, compassion, and the rule of law.
