Bandits in Niger State have killed the village head of Mulo village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state, Usman Garba, after he was abducted.

This was made known during a press briefing in Minna on Friday by the state Commissioner for Internal Security, Emmanuel Umar. He stated that the terrorists invaded Mulo community on Thursday and abducted the village head and four others.

City Round gathered that Garba was killed after he was kidnapped and his corpse dumped a few kilometres from the village. The bandits later fled with the three victims.

Confirming the incident, Umar said that though the security situation across the state improved, there were some threats and pockets of attacks in some communities, especially in Mashegu, Mariga, and Kontagora LGAs.

He said, “There is improvement in the security situation in the state. There has been a reduction in attacks but we are aware that the threat is still there and still exists. Of recent, we have seen attacks in the fringes of Mashegu, Mariga, and Kontagora.’’

He added that security agencies in the state had been directed to flush out the terrorists and end insecurity in the council areas.

Umar stated, “The governor has directed security agencies to come out in full force to ensure that this festive period has no incident. There will be an increase in patrol and visibility.” Punch
