NigeriaDecides2023: Buhari, Masari deliver councils as Tinubu wins in Katsina

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, won Saturday’s presidential election in Katsina State.

According to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s collation officers for the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, Tinubu won in 21 Local Government Areas including Daura and Kafur, the two local government areas of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and Governor Aminu Masari respectively.

The results declared by the INEC Collation officer for Daura Local Government Area, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, showed that Tinubu and the APC polled 16,889 to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who polled 12,913.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, polled 2,368 in the council while the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, polled 78.

The collation officer put the number of total votes cast in the council at 33,564.

In Kafur Local Government Area, the collation officer for the election, Hajiya Kahlifat Ibrahim, announced that Tinubu and the APC polled 23,517 to emerge winner in the LGA.

According to her, Atiku and the PDP polled 13,167, while the Labour Party and Obi polled 2,285.

She put the number of total votes cast in the council at 44,485.

The results announced by the INEC collation officers also showed that Tinubu won in Matazu, Kaita, Musawa, Ingawa, Charanchi, Dutsi, Sandamu, Dandume, Sabuwa and in Funtua.

The results also showed that the APC presidential candidate won in Danmusa, Rimi, Maiadua, Bindawa, Baure, Zango, Danja, Faskari and in Malumfashi.

The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the other hand, won in Batsari, Mashi, Kurfi, Dutsinma, Batagarawa, Kusada, Mani, Kankia, Kankara, Bakori, Jibia, Katsina and in Safana.

Some agents of political parties led by the chairman of the state chapter of the Interparty Advisory Council, Ibrahim Saude, however, walked out of the collation centre around 12:30 am in protest over the results of the Katsina Local Government Area which was won by Atiku. Punch
