Ochanya buried amid wailing in Benue

A 13-year-old girl, Elizabeth Ogbaje, who was raped to death by her aunt’s husband, Mr Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor, was buried amid tears on Friday.

The burial, which held in Ogene-Amejo, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, was marked by series of eulogies.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Comfort Ladi-Ajene, described Ochanya’s demise as painful and touching.

Ortom stated that Ochanya’s death did not only bring pain to people of Benue but also threw the entire country into mourning.

He said he had already approved the immediate suspension of the alleged rapist from the Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, until justice prevailed. Punch
