Ogun: Suspected cultists kill policeman, passerby

A suspected cult clash in the Ilese area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has left a police officer and one yet-to-be-identified man dead.

PUNCH Metro learnt on Sunday from a community source—who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the incident—that the clash erupted on Saturday night when suspected cultists stormed the area and began shooting sporadically.

The source said the attackers killed a police officer and another man whose identity had yet to be ascertained. He added that the violence was believed to be a confrontation between members of the Aiye confraternity and the Eiye confraternity.

The source stated, “Tragedy struck last night around 10 p.m. at Ilese via Ijebu-Ode, as two individuals were killed in a suspected cult clash between Aye and Eiye confraternities. Punch
