Panic as gunmen kill Anambra vigilante

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have invaded a local vigilance outfit in Uli, in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing one operative.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the assailants stormed the security office on Wednesday and shot three officers on duty.

Two sustained injuries while one died on the spot.

A witness said the assailants set fire to the building as they engaged the security operatives in a gun battle.

The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

Ikenga said, “Our operatives recovered unexploded explosives and other incriminating items. But unfortunately, three local vigilantes were shot when they engaged the assailants during the attack.

“While two are currently responding to treatment, one person was confirmed dead by a doctor.” Punch
