The police in Anambra State have arrested a prophet, Onyebuchi Okocha, aka Onyeze Jesus.

PUNCH Metro had exclusively reported on Tuesday that the Anambra State Government would arrest the 32-year-old prophet for alleged indecent conduct.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the arrest on Thursday, but refused to give details.

The prophet, who is the founder of Children of Light Anointing Ministries, Nkpor, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Don Adinuba, had warned the prophet against practices which he termed, ‘criminal and indecent conduct in the name of religion.’

Similarly, the state Ministry of Health, in a statement on Wednesday, warned hospitals and mortuaries operating in the state against allowing Onyeze Jesus access to their facilities to carry out his “widely publicised claim and planned magic that he would raise seven corpses from the dead on a given date.”

Residents expressed worry over some of the videos trending on social media attributed to the cleric, which included abuse of the Nigerian currency, animal cruelty and get-rich-quick promises to members of the public. Punch
