The presidential candidate of the Mass Action Joint Alliance party, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has called on the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to give Nigerians a ‘New Year gift’ by ensuring the release of Miss Leah Sharibu from the captivity of Boko Haram.

She stated that it was sad that the girl has still not been released since her abduction on February 19, 2018.

Adesanya-Davies, in a statement made available to our Correspondent on Thursday, said Leah’s release will be a good New Year gift to Nigerians, adding that  FG should inform Nigerians whether she is alive or dead.

Sharibu is among the 110 female students of Government Science Technical School, Dapchi, Yobe State, who were abducted on February 19, 2018.

While five of the girls were said to have died, 104 were released by the insurgents on March 21, 2018, following negotiations with the Federal Government.

Leah Sharibu was, however, held back by her captors due to her reported refusal to deny her Christian faith and convert to Islam.

She said, “Buhari, give us Leah Sharibu as Christmas/New year gift.”

The former MAJA presidential candidate pleaded with the United States of America, the European Union and the United Nations to mount pressure on FG to ensure Leah’s release from Boko Haram captivity. Punch
