The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) have released Neymar so he can testify against allegations of rape in court on Friday.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward was accused of rape by model Najila Trindade in a hotel in Paris on 15 May.

“I received information from Neymar‘s father and the lawyers that he has been summoned to court on 7 June and I want to confirm that the athlete, obviously, will be released so he can give his declaration,” said Brazilian national team general manager Edu Gaspar.

Neymar ruptured his right ankle ligaments during Brazil‘s 2-0 friendly win over Qatar in Brasilia on Wednesday and was taken off after just 17 minutes.

He was taken to hospital for further tests by the CBF medical team and it’s thought that he will miss the Copa America this summer.

“We will release the result [of the tests] when it comes out,” Edu said.

Neymar is different, I want to leave it until the last minute [before making a decision] because of his technical quality,” Brazil boss Tite said.

“Ney is an excellent person, a super important person for our group,” said Philippe Coutinho. “He had personal problems that we don’t need to comment on.

“As for his injury, I hope that it’s nothing serious so that he can return to training.”

Neymar left the pitch in tears with his ankle heavily strapped before departing the stadium in crutches and a protective boot.

As the PSG star was taken to hospital, the TV Record channel released the video recorded by the woman that has accused Neymar of rape during their second meeting in the Paris hotel.

Neymar is currently being investigated by police for rape and the distribution of intimate photos during his Instagram video.
