Rivers: More pro-Wike commissioners quit after redeployment by Fubara

THE Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), and his counterpart in the Ministry of Finance, Isaac Kamalu, on Wednesday, rejected their redeployments by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Their resignations came barely 24 hours after a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, announced their redeployments.

Adangor was redeployed to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office), while Kamalu was moved to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.

For the second time in less than five months, both Adangor and Kamalu resigned from the State Executive Council, following their redeployments.

On December 14 and 15, 2023, nine of the commissioners loyal to the former governor of the state and Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, resigned from the state cabinet, but were all reinstated after an intervention by President Bola Tinubu, following a peace agreement in Abuja.

The two, Adangor and Kamalu, on Wednesday, turned in their resignation letters again and offered to quit the state executive council over irreconcilable differences with the governor.

While Adangor accused Fubara of willfull interference with the performance of his duties as a commissioner, Kamalu faulted the governor’s claims of N27bn monthly Internally Generated Revenue rise. Punch
