The Taraba State Police Command on Friday confirmed that five persons lost their lives following the outbreak of fresh crisis on the Mambila Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area of the state.

Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP David Misal, who confirmed the incident, said that the incident occurred on Thursday evening between the Fulani and Mambilla ethnic groups.

He said, “The clash occurred on Thursday evening between the Fulani and Mambilla people and five persons were killed from both sides.”

He, however, said that the situation had been brought under control as the command had deployed men in the area.

An eyewitness said several property and valuables were set ablaze by the warring factions, blaming the crisis on a land dispute between the two tribes.

Meanwhile, a female suicide bomber in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, killed herself and injured three others on Friday.

An eyewitness said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day when Muslims in the area were going for early morning prayers.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the injured persons were taken to a hospital and were in a stable condition.

Spokesperson for the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya, could not be reached for comments when contacted as his telephone line was unavailable.Punch
