Tension as guards protest Seplat’s non- payment of entitlements in Delta

There was uproar on recently in Sapele, Delta State, as protesting guards of Seplat Energy stormed the offices of the oil com­pany to demand payment for providing surveillance for Seplat pipelines and oil impacted communities.

The protesting workers were seen displaying plac­ards and banners with dif­ferent inscriptions such as “Seplat pay our increased salary and arrears,” We are due for PPEs every six months”, “GMOU with pipeline communities must be actualized”, among oth­ers.

Addressing the protest­ers, Mr. Yahaya Ismail, the Production Operation Man­ager of Seplat Energy, ap­pealed for calm, adding that their demands had already been looked into.

Ismail urged the workers to remain calm, saying that the various issues raised will be addressed at a meet­ing with the management of the oil company, leaders, chairmen and stakeholders of the pipeline and impact­ed communities on Friday in Sapele.
