Speaking with our correspondent, Mariam disclosed that the mouth tumour growth was first noticed in 2016 when Lolade was 13 years.

She noted that their mum, now deceased, sought medical intervention for the problem, adding that a surgical procedure to remove the growth that was eventually diagnosed as a tumour was recommended by the physician treating Lolade at that time. The surgery, she said, was successfully done, adding that the family heaved a sigh of relief after the surgery.

She said Lolade was free of the tumour and its attendant pain for two years before the tumour resurfaced in 2018, noting that the family then started seeking help from different quarters and even tried traditional healing homes, as suggested by an uncle.

She lamented that despite all efforts by the family, the tumour problem persisted and continue to grow.

”An uncle during one of our conversations about Lolade’s predicament advised us to seek spiritual help. We visited numerous traditional healing homes, but all failed,” Mariam said.

Mariam also disclosed that the family lost their father in 2014 during the period of seeking a solution to Lolade’s mouth tumour problem, adding that she has been left to care for Lolade and another brother, all by herself because they also lost their mother before the tumour returned with full force in 2018.
She, however, added that her late mom’s sister occasionally supports them.

She disclosed further that after several failed healing promises from numerous traditional healers, the family decided to seek medical intervention once again, adding that Mount Zion Hospital, Edo State, where Lolade is being treated asked them to do more tests which have since been conducted.

According to Mariam, Lolade was asked to run more tests and an x-ray to determine the root cause of the ailment, noting that the test revealed that her brother had a tumour in his jaw and needs to undergo surgery to remove the tumour.

”I took him back to see a medical doctor who sent me to do an x-ray and test amounting to N70,000. After the tests, I was told he needs surgery, and a sum of N570,000 will be needed to perform the surgery.”

“I will be grateful if Nigerians can come to our aid and help my brother so that we can do the surgery. The pain is too much.
