Over four months after the Ogun State Government promised to repair the Loburo Road in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, PUNCH Metro reports that the road remains in a deplorable state, posing a nightmare for road users.
Despite repeated assurances, residents, motorists, and business owners continue to express frustration over the condition of the road, which they say has become a major setback for daily activities.
On May 8, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, had assured PUNCH Metro that the road would be fixed.
“We are working towards ensuring that most roads in Ogun State are motorable. We are doing everything we can to make sure that the roads are usable,” he said at the time.
However, four months after that assurance, the road, which links the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Mowe-Ofada Road, the Magistrate Court, and the palace of the Onigbein of Igbein Land, remains unrepaired.
Residents who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Monday described the road as a vital route for commuters, motorists, and businesses in the area, lamenting that its current state had left them in constant hardship.
A food vendor, Emeka Ibe, lamented the toll the bad road had taken on his business.
Emeka said, “Due to the bad road, I barely have customers; they find it difficult to come to my shop to eat. They would rather go somewhere else. So, I am pleading with the government to help us find a solution. It is not convenient.”
Another resident, Mrs Fatai, described how the situation affected families around the area.
“The dust is too much, and we are praying that God will send someone to help us repair the road. During the rainy season, it is always worse than this, and all we can do is pray that they fix it in good time,” Mrs Fatai noted.
