Police confirm suspected bandits’ threat in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed a reported threat by suspected bandits to attack Ikoyi-Ile, Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The police said they have intensified security in the community, with patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance already reinforced across the area.

In a statement released on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said a handwritten note, written in both Yoruba and English, was allegedly dropped in front of a residential building in the community.

This comes after a 12-man suspected bandit gang invaded Oloka community in Oriire LGA at about 11:30 pm on January 7, killing five National Park Service officers in their office. Punch
