Edo: Abducted doctor’s family seeks help for N100m ransom

The family of Dr Ibrahim Abu, who was abducted in Auchi, Edo State, has appealed to the public to help raise the N100m ransom demanded by his kidnappers.

Abu, a house officer at the Edo University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, was abducted alongside his brother, Abu Tahir, on January 2.

They were abducted at the gate of their residence along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area, at about 7:30pm after returning from work.

However, after initially demanding a N200m ransom, the kidnappers later killed Tahir, a fresh medical graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Despite killing him, the gunmen continued to hold his elder brother, Ibrahim, captive and subsequently demanded a reduced ransom of N100m.

The victim’s wife, while appealing for financial assistance, said the family had been severely traumatised and was finding it difficult to raise the ransom amount. Punch
